Ducati Monster SP paddock stand

My buddy just bought a new Ducati Monster SP and, of course, he had to go full send and get the official Ducati paddock stand (P/N 97080141AA). He's a bit confused about how the little V shaped adapters are supposed to go on.
The instructions are a little wonky. It looks like it wants you to set it up like image B, but he feels like A is the right way to go since that's how the stand would sit on the bike. I want to help, but I'm also not sure

We're wondering if anyone has this stand and can tell him which way is right.
Is this user error, or are the instructions just poorly done?
Also, what's the best way to test which configuration is correct without risking the bike?

The V-shaped adapters should go like image A from what I know. They're meant to grab the spools from the sides, not cradle them from underneath.

An additional detail is that Ducati’s stand, part number 97080141A, is designed for either 6 mm or 8 mm spools, depending on which kit your friend has. Make sure the spools are tightened into the swingarm with threadlocker since a loose fit can make the lift unstable. Has your friend been able to get the bike up on the stand smoothly yet or are they still running into trouble with alignment?

Also, what's the best way to test which configuration is correct without risking the bike?

Configuration A is usually the correct setup. The V shape needs to be open UP so the round spool on the swingarm sits securely in that V notch, minimizing lateral slippage as the stand is levered down.
If the point of the V was down, the spool would sit on a precarious, narrow ridge and could easily roll off the side.
