I recently traded my Ducati 999 for a 2010 KTM 450 EXC Champions Edition because I wanted a bike that works in the woods and on the street. This is my first time ever riding off road and I am realizing how different the dirt is compared to the pavement. The bike has plenty of power and I plan to get a set of supermoto wheels so I can swap them out for road use. It feels light and fast but I have a lot to learn about handling a bike in the trails. I hope I can keep my license once I get this thing on the asphalt.

Check your sag and suspension settings since dirt bikes feel much softer than sportbikes.

Buy a dedicated set of handguards to protect your levers when you drop the bike in the woods.
