Wheel swap question

Ran into some bad luck with my Ducati Monster 796. The front wheel and axle are both pretty much done for. While hunting for replacements, I came across a local set of 848 EVO wheels with rotors still on them. Low mileage, lighter than stock, and honestly they look way better too. The price is tempting enough that I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger.
What I'm not sure about is fitment. Would those wheels (and the axle) work on a Monster without major headaches? I figure if they bolt up clean, they'd not only fix my problem but probably add a little value and performance along the way.

The 848 EVO wheels should fit your Monster 796 without any issues since they have pretty much the same front axle diameter and spacing. They can fit, but it's not a straight bolt on, axle size and spacers are different, and you'll likely need to play with rotor offset too.

I agree, it would be clean fit. to make it fit smoothly, you need to check your ABS ring. your Monster 796 may or may not have ABS, but if it does, the ABS ring on the 848 EVO wheels might be a different size or have a different number of teeth.
Make sure you check this before you buy. You might need to swap your old ABS ring onto the new wheel to ensure your ABS system works correctly

Sorry to hear about the wreck!! The front wheel is a direct bolt-on. The axle, rotors, and spacers will all swap over without any issues but the problem would be the rear.. the 848 uses a single-sided swingarm, while your Monster has a double-sided one, so that rear wheel won't work at all.

I suggest you just buy the front wheel from the guy and look for a stock rear wheel separately. If he won't split the set, it's probably not worth it unless the price is so good you can flip the rear wheel to someone with a single-sided swingarm bike.

The 796 monster has a single-sided arm, its a real ducati, not those fake ones with double-sided... :'D

But seriously only after the 797 they changed it on the monster line, before that just de small one, the 696 had that type of double-sided, on 797 and 821 they put the double sided, and in the 937 they even took off the truss frame, I don't consider this last one as a "Ducati Monster", because it looks like a Japanese motorcycle.
