1999 Ducati M900 question

I have a 1999 Ducati M900 motorcycle, and I bought a cheap set flatslide carburator FCR41 online, it's arrived yesterday.

It's really funny bcs these new carburetors are missing some parts (can you believe this!).

In the ads, the kits that make these carburators easy to install usually have colorful plastic pieces (blue or red) called "velocity stacks" and metal tubes that connect to the air filter box.

My question is, do we absolutely need those velocity stacks if we are still using the regular air filter box?

I pretty much do all my own work, but having a pro with a dyno tune the carbs is worth every cent. These air box rubbers can really be a pain in the ass. Ducvet did mine and I am glad. And if I do make some minor changes I now have a right baseline to go back to.

You don't really need the velocity stacks if you're sticking with the stock air filter box. They can help with airflow and might give you a bit of a boost at higher RPMs, but if you're just riding normally with the stock setup, they aren't a must-have. If you decide to upgrade your intake or want more performanc down the road, then they'd be worth considering. But for now, you're fine without them

No, you won't directly sue the stacks like they said but I guess it's just pretty disappointing to not receive it but you paid for it, right? Anyway, for your setup, you'll specific adapters or manifolds to connects the FCRs to your existing airbox boots! I hope those were the metal tubes that came with your package! You can check the part numbers of your new carburetors to sort it out!

If you're sticking with the stock airbox, adding velocity stacks can help smooth out airflow and improve throttle response. That said, your vehicle will still function without them, you might just notice a slight dip in performance at certain RPMs

Nah, you don't need those velocity stacks now. They help with airflow and throttle response when running open or pod filters. With the regular air box, you can just skip them without major issues, but just make sure all connections are sealed pretty good to avoid air leaks.

Most kits come with adapters that fit the stock airbox well. Stacks can improve airflow and power at higher speeds, but they're not a must for day-to-day riding.
