2001 Monster 900 front brake light issue

Hey all, I'm new to bikes and this forum, I just got a used 2001 Monster 900, and in my excitement, I didn't check the lights. The front brake light doesn't come on, but the rear works fine. No cables seem disconnected. Any tips on what I should check first?

Congrats on the Monster 900, awesome choice for a first bike! I had a similar issue on my '02 after a long winter sit. Turned out the front brake light switch was sticky or worn. Try gently pressing the switch near the lever to see if it activates manually. If not, it might just need cleaning or replacing.

I appreciate that tip, I'll check the switch by the lever tonight, hopefully it's just dirty and not totally shot. If I do need a new one, is it a tough swap?
