Oil pressure light flickering on Ducati Monster S2R

A few months ago, my Ducati Monster S2R oil light stayed on right after I started the engine. I shut it off right away even though the oil level looked fine and the pump seemed to be moving oil with no strange noises. I figured it was the sensor so I bought a new one but that did not fix it. I bought a second new sensor with the same result. I read online some suggested maybe there was trash in the pump or the relief valve. So I took everything apart and cleaned it, but I didn't see anything wrong and the oil pump spun freely. I also checked the old oil and didn't see any metal shavings. I put the engine back together, added fresh oil and one of the new sensors, and the light finally turned off. But after I took it for a twenty mile ride, the light started flickering whenever the bike was idling. I checked the wiring for a short but I could not make the issue repeat with my voltmeter. I have an oil pressure gauge on order now since I have not actually checked the pressure yet. Does anyone know what the normal PSI or Bar pressure reading should be for the oil pump on this engine?

It is a common issue. The oil light flickering at idle points to an issue with the connector and sensor.

A flickering light when the engine is idling usually means the pressure is low but not completely gone. You need to check it by using a proper gauge.

These engines have sensors that turnn on the warning light around 0.3 to 0.5 bar.if the pressure drops close to that level when the engine is hot the light may flicker even though the pump is still pushing oil.
