Buying a 1999 Ducati Monster 750 Cafe Racer

I found a local 1999 Monster 750 cafe racer and I am thinking about buying it as a secondary bike. The seller dropped the price from $6000 to $5500 and a well known shop did all the work. It has 45000 miles and a custom paint job. I am not a big fan of the colors but the bike has a clean title and many new parts. I used to own a Monster and I want to have one in my garage again for short rides a few times a year. It seems like a solid deal for a bike that is already finished and verified by experts.

Have you checked the service records for the timing belts and valve adjustments lately?

Remember that 45000 miles is high for a Ducati so ask if the engine has had a top end rebuild.

Look closely at the custom wiring to make sure the cafe racer conversion was done right.

Thanks for these tips! The seller doesn't have all the receipts. I felt that this was very off and I think I might get one through a reputable shop. At least I know where to go if I encounter any issues.

Yeah! It is best to get a used one in a reputable shop. I do not recommend buying a customized bike especially if there is missing paperwork.
