Dry clutch sound

Do you find a music or a noise? The rattling sound of an old dry clutch is something you either love or hate. I used to think it sounded like a bag of bolts but now I find it comforting to hear that mechanical heartbeat at a stoplight. I noticed though that modern wet clutches are much smoother in traffic and they last longer.

Are you happier with a quiet and smooth ride or it's still a must to have the rattle?

@g0alkeeper I love the rattle because it lets everyone know you are on a Ducati. It is a mechanical warning that the bike is something special and not just another quiet commuter. I actually installed an open cover just to make it even louder.

I miss the sound but I do not miss the maintenance. No way I'm going back. Changing out those plates and cleaning the dust out of the basket was a messy job I am glad to be done with. The wet clutch stays much cleaner and lasts twice as long.

Well, modern wet clutches are objectively better for daily riding in the city. My hand used to cramp up after ten minutes in traffic with the old dry setup. I do not miss the heavy pull or the noise when I am trying to enjoy a smooth ride.

Does the noise change when you pull the lever in for you guys? Mine gets much quieter once I disengage the clutch but as soon as I let go the rattle comes back. It is a great conversation starter at gas stations.

I think the dry clutch is part of the soul of the air cooled bikes. If you are going to ride a classic Monster you should embrace all the quirks that come with it. The noise is just part of the character of the machine.
