Fixing stripped threads on my Ducati engine case

I found three or four stripped bolt holes in my engine case while I was changing the starter. These holes hold the side cover on and I need a solid fix. I was thinking about using a Time Sert but someone told me there might not be enough metal there. The walls look to be about 4mm thick and I am worried about cracking the case if I drill it out. And I am stuck deciding between a Time Sert or a basic Helicoil for such a thin area. I want to know if anyone has successfully repaired these specific threads without ruining the block.

Have you measured the outer diameter of the Time Sert tool to see if it leaves enough wall thickness?

@uglytruth Helicoils usually require a smaller hole to be drilled which might be safer for 4mm walls.

Did you check if the stripped holes are deep enough to accept a standard insert?

You should use a guide to make sure your drill bit stays perfectly straight in that tight space.
