Mysterious bolt from my 2016 Monster 821 Stripe

I was just trying to change the front sprocket on my 2016 Ducati Monster 821 Stripe. As I was getting started, a bolt mysteriously dropped and landed on my feet. I didn't see where it came from.
I've looked around the front sprocket area, but I'm not seeing an obvious empty hole. I'm worried it might be something important.

It's a 22mm silver bolt. Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas where this bolt could have come from?
I'm holding off on riding until I figure this out. Any suggestions on what to check would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

22mm bolt is quite large and holds significant so it's smart you're not riding the bike. Given its size and location the front sprocket area is a good place to start.
Check the engine casings the shifter linkage and even the clutch slave cylinder area. Sometimes a bolt can get loose from vibration and then fall out when you move things around for a repair.

Then go over the whole area with a flashlight and maybe a small mirror to see any hidden spots. Consult the service manual for a visual reference of all the bolts in that part of the motorcycle. Better be safe than sorry.

That's almost certainly the swingarm eccentric pinch bolt!! It's located on the right side of the swingarm, near the rear axle.. check that spot on your swingarm for an empty hole. If it is missing, torque it back to spec right away. It likely vibrated out if it wasn't tightened after a previous chain adjustment. It's a critical safety item so it was a right decision to hold off riding!!

@french75, have you checked the upper mounting point of the plastic chain guard? A 22mm bolt is probably too big, but sometimes a bracket bolt that holds the chain guard or the front sprocket cover will back out and look bigger than it is once it's on the ground
