My friend has this 2017 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO and he know tht the owner's manual recommends 91 Octane.

A few days ago he tried 101 octane fuel from a nearby VP Racing Fuels station (starting with half a tank) and experienced significant improvements, like no more popping/crackling or backfiring, smoother low-speed first gear, and snappier, smoother overall performance.

So, I wonder if these positive changes make them wonder if Ducati tunes their bikes optimally for the US market and highly recommends trying a higher octane (around 96).

He told me tht he'll try a full tank of 101 octane, and I'm actually waiting for the results.

How did your friend's Monster perform after trying the full tank of 101 octanee. any noticeable changes compared to the half-tank test?

Your friend's experience with 101 octane is pretty cool! Higher octane can help reduce knocking and make the ride smoother, which makes sense for the better low-speed performance and less popping. Ducati bikes typically run well on 91 octane, so while using a higher octane might help a bit, it's not always needed and could even use more fuel. It's a good idea to pay attention to how the bike feels and rides with the 101, but keep in mind that more octane doesn't always mean more power. Just keep an eye on it

Using higher octane can really help if the ECU is reducing timing when you're on regular gas. While 101 octane might be overkill for everyday driving, something like 96 to 98 could work perfectly. I'd love to hear how that full tank performs,I'm really curious
