Struggled with rear wheel removal

Finally decided to tackle the rear wheel on my Monster 821 for some maintenance, and I didn't realize how much of a pain that wheel lock nut would be. I tried all my usual wrenches, but it barely budged. Ended up having to get creative with leverage and a bit of patience, and even then it took way longer than I expected.
Anyway, any one else been in this situation?

Funny you mention this, I'm still learning my way around my 797 and I was worried about that rear nut. So a regular torque wrench isn't enough? Did you end up using heat or just brute force? Trying to figure out if this is a "shop job" for me or worth fighting with at home.

Heard this stuff before, that rear nut is notorious and honestly I'd say a long breaker bar or even a cheater pipe is your best friend there because once you've cracked it the first time, it's a lot less scary the next go around

Don't go cheap with aluminum sockets from eBay. They can't handle the torque and might ruin your nut. Spend a bit more on steel sockets made for Ducati axles if you plan on doing this regularly.

That massive lock nut, especially if it hasn't been touched in a while or was overtightened last time, can be really difficult. I'd suggest using a proper, long torque wrench or a breaker bar if you're not planning to torque it, and maybe a buddy to sit on the bike or hold the rear brake pedal hard while you give it a proper crack. A little penetrating oil a few minutes beforehand can sometimes help too!!
