swapping the aftermarket exhaust

I just bought my son a new Akrapovic exhaust for his Ducati Monster to replace the QD ExBox that’s on there now
The bike was already tuned for the QD setup, but I’m wondering if we can just bolt the Akra on and go

Will the current aftermarket tune be close enough, or does a change in exhaust brand mean he needs a fresh remap?
I’m not 100% sure which Akrapovic model it is yet, but I want to make sure we aren’t going to run it too lean or lose power
any advice?

I think it will likely run safely, but it won’t run optimally. You probably don't need a "fresh" remap immediately to avoid engine damage, but the bike's behavior will change.

There shouldn't be an issue as long as the tune is already set up for a free flowing exhaust, but the exact fit depends on which Akra model you have since some are designed with different back pressure and flow.

I agree with them! If you fail to remap it, expect performance issues or it might not be as smooth as you expected.

you can bolt it on for a test ride, but keep an eye on the header pipes and the engine temp. if the pipes start glowing cherry red or the bike starts popping excessively on deceleration, it’s running too lean.

it’s already tuned, so you might just need a trim to the existing map rather than a total overhaul
