The best first mods for a new Monster

I see most people start with a tail tidy or an exhaust but... I think suspension is where you should spend your money first.
A basic setup for your weight makes the bike handle so much better in the corners. I know it's not as flashy as a carbon fiber part, a lot of us really love that material yes, I'm guilty, but you will feel it every time you ride. It makes the bike feel much more planted on bumpy roads.

Question though... what was the very first thing you changed on your bike and did it actually make the ride better?
 
I put a set of stiffer springs in my forks last month and wow it completely changed how the bike dives under braking. Because before that, the nose would dip waaay too fast and it made the bike feel nervous in tight turns. Costs me less than a new exhaust and the performance gain was ten times better.
