shortly after buying my 800, I found a listing for a cheap 900 engine. The listing said it had some compression problems and I don't mind rebuilding it, considering how cheap it is. So my question is has anyone did this swap? In theory I know it should work, but I wanna know if it's doable

It's doable but it's kinda complicated. Not like you think. It's not really a simple plug and play so you have to be really careful with the ECU compatibility, wiring harness, and engine mounts. But it's a solid upgrade. Just be careful.

Have you looked into the differences in the engine mounts or wiring harness between the 800 and 900? It might require some custom work to get everything to fit and run properly

Haven't tried it personally but it sure sounds very complex

I don't think it is an easy swap since the frames and mounts differ a bit across models and years. Though it is possible, it is worth checking with someone who has done this swap or, better asking a mechanic.
