Is the new Monster frame a mistake?

The move away from the full trellis frame to the front frame design caused a lot of talk in the Ducati community. I've read a lot online actually. I think the new bike is much lighter and easier to flick around but it definitely lost some of that iconic look. It feels more like a modern sport bike now and less like a mechanical piece of art. But the performance gains are hard to argue with when you are on a twisty backroad. Do you miss the old trellis look or have you grown to love the new sleek design?

I rode the new model at a demo day and I have to admit it handles like a dream even without the trellis frame. It turns in so much faster because it shed all that weight from the middle of the bike. I still miss the classic look of the red pipes but the speed on the track is hard to ignore.

Has anyone here switched from an old trellis bike to the new frame yet?

I have 3 trellis framed Monsters and one new 937 model. To be fair, they are very different, hard to compare because the new bike is a radical change. The new bike is lighter, more flickable, but almost do I say boring.... Its so much like a Japanese naked I forget I'm on one of the latest Monsters (besides the newest gen 5 which is still pretty much the same). I like them both but if you prefer cutting edge technology, go with the new, prefer the look and older school feel, any trellis frames are your thing. Or.. the best of both worlds, get one of each or more!! ;0)

Those exposed pipes are cool, but the sleeker design is just the practical next step for a brand that focuses more on track performance than on holding onto old traditions.
