I actually did my own Desmo service on a different Ducati model, oh you wouldn't believe the sheer amount of time it takes.
You have to remove a lot of bodywork, the tank, and the airbox just to get to the heads.
The process of checking each valve, figuring out the right size shim, and then putting it all back together is a very slow and meticulous process.
If you have the time and the patience, you can absolutely do it, but don't expect to get it done in a single afternoon

Doing the Desmo service yourself is a big job, but it's totally possible if you've got the right tools and a solid understanding of what's involved. The key challenges are definitely getting to the heads since you'll need to remove the tank, airbox, and parts of the cooling system. The actual valve check and adjustment isn't super complex, but it requires precision. You'll need a set of feeler gauges and the appropriate shims to get the clearances just right.

It's also best to have a good service manual for the torque specs and step-by-step instructions. Read through it a few times before you start, and take lots of pictures as you disassemble everything. @1000spaghetti is right about how the process can be so meticulous to put things back together so those should save you a ton of headaches. Yh, you'll need the right tools for measuring or adjusting valve clearances and a lot of patience. The big thing is keeping track of shims and making sure everything goes back exactly as it came apart, organization is key.

I haven't done it myself, but I think you should have a good service manual and the right feeler gauges an d bonus, taking your time with the timing marks is key

I do not recommend doing a Desmo service yourself. Yeah it is possibly but it is a tedious job unless this is not your first time doing so. My buddy did this, and it took him more than a week to complete Desmo service. You better prepare all things you need before starting the job.

I recommend doing it yourself.
First, study and prepare everything you'll need, and be prepared to find other problems.
I did the first desmo myself, and it was easy, laborious, but easy.

Mechanics is logical, pay attention in the process and you probably will success.
