Swapping the S2R800 fast idle lever to an S2R1000

I am working on removing the stepper motor from my S2R1000 throttle bodies and want to use a manual fast idle lever instead. The S2R800 uses a lever that connects right to the throttle cam and I want to know if those parts fit my bike. My plan is to swap the left hand switch housing and the throttle cam then plug the holes on the throttle bodies. Has anyone tried this exact parts swap to see if the cable length and cam mounting points match up perfectly? Is it a good idea to check the parts diagrams for both bikes to see if the throttle body pins are the same size before I start.? But if the frames and airboxes are similar it should be a straightforward job. Does anyone know if the ECU will throw a code once that stepper motor is unplugged?

I tried a similar swap on an older Monster and the main issue was the ECU. The bike might look for that stepper motor signal and trigger a warning light on your dash. You have to get a flash or a bypass plug to keep the computer happy. But the mechanical side of the swap usually lines up if the throttle body spacing is the same. Have you looked into whether the S2R800 cable is long enough to reach your bars?

You can swap the left switch housing, just don't forget to check the wiring connector prior to swapping it. make sure the throttle cam matches the right pull ratio so your throttle feel stays consistent.

@explorer make sure you use high quality vacuum caps when you plug those throttle body ports. I do not recommend using those cheap rubber ones. They tend to crack from the heat and cause a vacuum leak later on. I did this on my bike and it cleaned up the engine bay a lot. The manual lever gives you much better control during cold starts in the morning. Did you find a good source for the S2R800 parts yet?

the 1000 has bigger throttle bodies, so the cam might not fit perfectly without aa bit of filing. I’d recommend checking the size of the throttle shafts before buying the new cam.
