Monster 821 oil not circulating after winter storage

I took my 2016 Monster 821 for a spin after winter and saw that the red oil light lit up right after I started it. I went ahead and replaced the pressure sensor, but that didn't help. The oil level in the sight glass isn't going down at all, so it seems like it's not circulating. I checked the filter and screen, and they're both clean. Has anyone else dealt with this issue after storing their bike for a while? I'm thinking it might be the oil pump, but I can't figure out how to get the clutch cover off. Any advice would be appreciated!

Getting the clutch cover off can be tricky on the Monster 821 because it's packed tight and sometimes the screws can be stubborn, drain the oil first to avoid a mess, then carefully remove the bolts around the cover, making sure you don't lose the small dowel pins that keep it aligned, in a case you realize the cover is tough to budge, gentle heat with a heat gun (not too hot!) around the edges can help break the seal without damaging the gasket

I'm 99% sure that it's either a clogged pickup screen or the oil pump being bad. Remove the filter and i think you should be able to see the screen and see if it's clear or not. If that's not it, then it's probably the pump.

Agreed. Let's start with the pickup screen. If that looks good, then it's probably the pump that's causing the problem.

If the pressure sensor and filter are good and the oil isn't moving, the pump would be my solid guess. To get the clutch cover off, you'll need to drain the oil, then remove the clutch slave cylinder and the clutch plates themselves. Be careful with those bolts though, they can be a bit fragile. Also since it's getting close to winter again, think about using a fuel stabilizer next time you store it., that ethanol can gum up the fuel system and cause a whole new set of problems come spring!!
